E-commerce giant Amazon has announced plans to aggressively expand its use of advanced automation technologies across its operations in India. 

The company aims to deploy highly sophisticated systems to streamline inventory management and optimize overall efficiency at its Indian fulfilment centres. 

This initiative underscores Amazon's commitment to modernizing its supply chain infrastructure in one of its fastest-growing retail markets.

The technological push aligns with Amazon’s massive financial commitment to the region, having already invested $40 billion in India. 

Building on this foundation, the company has pledged an additional $35 billion investment to be deployed through 2030. 

A significant portion of this capital will be directed toward integrating cutting-edge robotics and automated solutions into their existing logistics network.

Speaking on the sidelines of Amazon’s Delivering the Future EMEA 2026 event in London, Tye Brady, Chief Technologist at Amazon Robotics, detailed the specific systems targeted for expansion. 

He highlighted that robotic systems, such as the Scan, Label, Apply, Manifest (SLAM) labelers, are already operational in India. 

Brady confirmed that the company will continue to heavily invest in these advanced tools to refine inventory control.

The ongoing integration of robotics is designed to handle repetitive tasks, thereby accelerating order processing times and reducing operational errors. 

By upgrading its fulfilment centres with automated inventory management, Amazon hopes to better manage its vast product catalog and meet the rising consumer demand across the Indian subcontinent.

This strategic investment marks a pivotal phase in Amazon’s long-term global vision, where human capital and advanced robotics collaborate to enhance workplace efficiency. 

As the 2030 investment plan rolls out, the e-commerce leader expects these technological advancements to fundamentally transform its operational capabilities and delivery speeds throughout India.
