John Jackson Miller, a huge Batman fan, is writing a sequel to Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie. 

This officially licensed novel is called Batman: Resurrection. 

Miller has always had questions about the movie's ending and wanted to explore what happened to Bruce Wayne and Gotham City after the Joker's attack. 

The book features the return of Michael Keaton as Batman and explores the aftermath of the Joker's reign of terror.

Clayface also emerges as a new villain.

Miller aimed to write a book that felt like a cinematic sequel to the original film.

Miller went through a long outlining process to ensure that the story fit within the established universe. 

He wanted to maintain the film's dark and gothic tone and avoid introducing elements that wouldn't have been around in the late 1980s, when the movie is set. 

The book also features other characters from the film, such as Vicki Vale and Alfred.

This is the first book in a planned series.

The sequel will feature a new main antagonist, but Miller would not reveal who it is. 

He feels that the possibilities for this series are broader than those of typical comic book tie-in novels.
