The country reported about 30,000 suspected cases and 859 deaths this year, making up over 80% of Africa's cases.

Initial doses from a 265,000-dose donation by the EU and US are being administered in Goma. While most infections affect children under 15, vaccinations are focused on adults and frontline workers. 

An additional 3 million doses for children are expected from Japan soon.

The DRC is the first country in Africa to start mpox vaccinations, which is a significant step in the fight against the outbreak. 

The country has been severely affected by the virus, with over 80% of Africa's cases reported in the DRC.

The initial doses of the vaccine will be administered in Goma, which is one of the hardest-hit areas in the country. 

While most infections affect children under 15, the vaccinations are being focused on adults and frontline workers. 

This is because adults and frontline workers are more likely to come into contact with the virus and spread it to others.

The DRC is also expected to receive an additional 3 million doses of the vaccine from Japan soon. 

This will allow the country to vaccinate a larger number of people and help to control the spread of the virus.

The mpox vaccination campaign in the DRC is a major milestone in the fight against the outbreak. 

By vaccinating a large number of people, the country can help to protect its population from the virus and prevent the spread of the disease to other countries.
